About
I'm an Ann Arbor-based tutor with over eight years of full-time tutoring experience. I've spent thousands of hours helping students master a wide range of subjects, from third-grade arithmetic to university-level writing.
As an undergraduate, I attended St. John's College ("The Great Books School"), where I studied literature, philosophy, and the history of mathematics. After graduating, I moved to New York City and immersed myself in the challenges (and joys!) of urban teaching at Geoffrey Canada's Harlem Children's Zone. I spent five years there, tutoring students in math and English and teaching art and test prep classes. I transitioned to full-time private tutoring in 2017.
More recently, I earned my master's degree and teacher certification at the University of Michigan. I'm now a certified teacher.
When I'm not tutoring, you can usually find me cooking, coding, running, drawing, getting lost in conversations, watching black and white foreign films, and sprinting after my one-year-old son. I enjoy big projects and usually have some artistic or entrepreneurial endeavor in the works!

“Wonderful Tutor! Cassandra…is patient, kind, passionate, and good at what she does. I have had many issues with math for a long time, but with Cassandra's help I was able to do things and solve problems I didn't think I could. After working together for just a short time I already began to feel more confident in my math skills.” – Jermaine, algebra student
